Me And My Friend D. Todd
How's it going everyone, this week was pretty cool, we got to do a lot. Most of our lessons got canceled for various reasons, so we didn't teach that much, I taught my comp how to play the guitar so that was fun, we helped one of our "friends" (investigators) move, oh and we also had a meeting with Big Man D. Todd Christofferson, he's a really cool guy.
On Saturday we helped Dan Nutt move. Missionaries have been teaching Dan for 20 years now, his wife is a member but he is Catholic (at the moment) so he's been through it all, however it wasn't until I got to Gig Harbor that he started reading the Book of Mormon, and he is actually super close to being baptised. Dan is an interesting situation, because now that he's read the Book of Mormon he knows it's true, the only problems left are, he really likes beer, and he doesn't want to disappoint his parents. We helped move for 5 hours on Saturday and I need a Chiropractor, I now remember why you're supposed to lift with your knees. Before Dan left I felt really good because the Members who are his good friends and his wife told me that out of all the missionaries Dan connected with my testimony the most, and that I connected with him the most. Not gonna lie I needed to hear that, because sometimes I don't feel even close to adequate to do the lords work, but truly I got to remember that it is his work not mine, he will use me the best way he can.
Like I said earlier we met with D. Todd Christofferson as a mission, he talked to us answered some of our questions and such. It was a cool experience but honestly a little underwhelming. It took literally 45 minutes to introduce everyone that he was with, and then we only had an hour to really talk. Don't get me wrong though, the spirit that man brings even over technology is absolutely electrifying. It was good but I guess I forgot to remember he is just a man, an apostle of the Lord don't get me wrong, but also a man, there isn't going to be fireworks all the time.
This is the part of the email where I talk about how I am doing spiritually and mentally, so if you're not into that skip to the end. Spiritually it still has been rough, I won't go into details, but I have had to make big changes to myself and really reflect on what my life will be like after the mission, who I want to be, where I want to go, and it's scary. As elder Parry told me this morning "God keeps it HOT in the refiners fire elder, If you want to turn golden you gotta let the imperfections boil out, Why would he want you, an elect missionary, to not go through struggle? He's building you." I'm grateful to have friends like him to get me through, and I'm super grateful for technology to be able to talk to my family and friends. So all in all, it may be a trial, but I know it's for my better.
I guess that concludes this email, as always here's my address so you can send me mail, I'm still working on letters so I apologize if you haven't gotten one yet, and as always, stay classy
(W) Elder
